High-Level Mast Photography is a high impact alternative to ground level photography and provides a new approach to aerial photography which traditionally uses aeroplanes, helicopters or hot air balloons.

High-Level Mast Photography, carried out by Barry Mann Photography, uses retractable masts which can be raised up to 22m (70ft) above the ground, to gain a new and different perspective.

The mast is mounted on a vehicle so it is easy to set up, and can easily be moved to a variety of locations to obtain images from different viewpoints.

A portable mast (12m in height) is also available for use where vehicular access is not possible, such as in rear gardens.

Height differential

The images below show a comparison between a ground level image and those taken using the mast at mid and high levels.

Image Capture

Images are captured using a high resolution digital SLR camera, mounted on a remote controlled pan & tilt unit. This enables full 360° rotation for panoramic images or different views to be captured from one position. The camera can also be tilted +/-90° enabling views either looking directly down on a subject or from underneath looking up.

The camera is fully controlled (zoom, aperture, shutter speed, etc.) from the ground using computer software & Hilocam 2 systems, with images being downloaded directly to a laptop computer in the vehicle. A live viewfinder image can also be viewed which ensures that client requirements, such as height & positioning are met at the time of taking the photograph.

The end result

Final images can be provided as exhibition quality prints or as electronic files on CD or sent via e-mail, depending on your requirements.

Prints are usually supplied unmounted and unframed. However a choice of frames, mounts, canvas prints or postcards are available, if required.
